Uniform Info
What to wear where, and when.
If you are new to the band, this is a confusing issue. To those who have weathered a full band year, this is (pardon the pun) old hat.
Marching Band
All band members will be measured and fitted at the very start of the school year, sometimes prior to that. When you receive your complete Marching Band Uniform it will include:
Provided
- black jumper
- jacket
- gauntlets
- hat
- gold hat plume (These will be stored in the Band Room)
Order from Mr. Carl
- black shoes (These run approximately $45)
- black dri-fit T shirt (These run approximately $11.00)
- black gloves (These run approximately $4/pr. It's a good idea to order a spare pair.)
- marching lanyard (These are $5/ea)
You purchase on your own
- black socks
These are high quality uniforms (with replacement cost of approximately $450 each) that require dry cleaning (except for the T shirt). We suggest Quality Cleaners in Sumner, at @ $15.

Uniform Care
- ALWAYS take ALL of your uniform parts out of the garment bag between performances to let them air-out. Whether it has gotten wet or not it will help keep it from developing mold and mildew. Don’t forget about your gauntlets, dri-fit t-shirts, gloves, shoes, and socks; have them ready in advance for each performance by taking care of them between performances.
- If your uniform has any loose buttons, pulled-out seams, stains, ANYTHING of concern, let us know before you do anything drastic; we have people who can help fix them up.
- NEVER machine wash the uniforms. These uniform are given to you freshly dry cleaned, but since you will wear them probably 25+ times over the school year, they may need to be re-dry cleaned (a good time to do this is between the Holiday Parades and the Daffodil Parades). Get the uniforms dry cleaned at Quality Cleaners in Downtown Sumner; they helped us to design the uniforms, they know them inside and out, and they get dry cleaned there every summer. It costs a little (about $10) but it’s really nice to wear something clean, especially after many fall performances.
- These uniforms are very expensive and are an HONOR to wear to represent our Program, our School, and our District. Please be very responsible and take good care of them. WE LOOK GREAT - WE SOUND GREAT
