Bands
Sumner High School has one band who performs many functions and goes by many names.
Sumner High School offers 3 classes of Jazz bands that meet in the wee hours of the morning before school every weekday (except Wednesdays).
Our fall season is filled with Spartan Marching Band activities: parades, football games, field show competitions and the occasional command performance!
Marching Band continues to perform for holiday parades into the winter as the Spartan Pep Band gets into full swing for basketball games, entertaining the fans at both the boys and girls varsity home games. The Pep Band may also be seen at the occasional Wrestling match, Soccer match, Baseball game, Fastpitch game, or whoever may ask!
Winter is Symphonic Band season with kids in tuxedo shirts and a broad stage on which to perform. (Believe it or not, these refined young musicians are the very same kids that dance like maniacs at basketball games!)
Marching Band picks up again in the spring with more parades.
Summer ushers in Summer Band where young musicians from the district, and surrounding areas, are invited to practice, perform and participate in the Spartan Marching Band with the high school musicians. It's a great time for all and the perfect opportunity to welcome the younger students into the fold.
Check out each of the band pages for more information.
