Sunset Festival of Bands

On Saturday, October 28, 2017 several high school marching bands from around the Northwest, along with their families and friends, will roll into Sunset Chev Stadium at Sumner High School to compete in the areas of musicianship and performance. More than just for bragging rights and awards, these competing student bands will receive coaching and mentorship from respected judges in the field. Bands will begin the day performing their field shows for the judges. After the initial critique, each band will take the field again in the afternoon when the competition phase begins and the audience is dazzled!

In this, our Nineth Anniversary Year, we will welcome event founder, Mason Longnecker, back to the planning committee as Co-Chair! Caption Awards and Placement Awards will be presented for each division of competition: Division I for units of 50 or fewer members and Division II for units over 50 members. There is also an Exhibition division available.

This fast growing event is sponsored by the Sumner Band Parents Association (SBPA). Funds raised by the event are used to support the many endeavors of the Sumner High School Band, helping with travel, the purchase of needed equipment, instruments, music and more.
